Your task is to analyze the following scenario and then (1) describe the individual’s current stage in the Transtheoretical Model, (2) provide three S.M.A.R.T goals, and (3) an example weekly program that you would present to the individual. Scenario – You are setting up to teach a group exercise class and are greeted by a new participant. They introduce themselves and explain that they just purchased their semester unlimited group exercise pass at RecFit. This is the very first class that they are ever attending at school and are hesitant that they will be unable to keep up. You explain that all group exercise classes are tailored to varying fitness levels, and throughout the class you will provide modifications and water breaks. They further explain that they live a sedentary lifestyle, mostly sitting at work and were encouraged by a coworker to join group fitness. It turns out their coworker is one of your regulars in class! You ask what they currently do for exercise, and they inform you that they occasionally take exercise classes at a local boutique. Ultimately this individual tells you that they want to feel better and get back into exercising.
